Memorial Day Door Decorating Contest

So I asked my students on Tuesday if they would be interested in decorating a door for this month's school spirit contest.  There wasn't an overwhelming amount of enthusiasm but 3 or 4 seemed like it would be a cool thing to do.  (A few more jumped on board when I told them that the winning classroom would get pizza on the final day of class as a prize!)

One student found a cute patriotic hat idea from Pinterest so as a group we figured out what materials were needed and divided out the supplies.

Here are a couple students working in class on the hat and then a picture of the finished product ready for judging.  Tape was only allowed on the door so there were a few stability issues, unfortunately.  Fingers crossed that pizza will be in our future next week!

Update on door contest...we didn't win :( but it was fun regardless to work together and create something!
